Winter at The Lodge
Winter is a special time along the north shore of Lake Superior, a time for continued adventure and exploration fun.
Frozen and covered in snow and ice, the Superior heritage coastline presents itself as a wonderful playground for winter enthusiasts. Whether you want to snowshoe, backcountry ski, snowmobile the many logging roads, try ice fishing for Perch or Whitefish, or find an ice climb to top rope, pure adventure awaits you.
The sunnier days of February and March offer a little longer daylight for playing, some warmer afternoon sun, and still plenty of fresh white snow for your winter activity. Make the Voyageurs’ Lodge your base camp for adventure.
Our winter Cookhouse and General Store/Agency LCBO Store is open Wednesday thru Sunday for breakfast and lunch, and open Fridays and Saturdays for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our winter lodge is open for room bookings seven days a week, and our fully equipped housekeeping units are also available for winter bookings.
Early in February, the Batchawana Bay community celebrates the season with our winter carnival called “Chimo” which means “Welcome” in the Inuit language. This winter party has been going on for more than 40 years. Join us on the rink for ice skating, jam can curling, or one of the many other family activities that takes place over these festive days. Chili, soup, and pie baking contests provide many delicious entrees for you to sample.
