Since Art on The Bay, I have been taking it easy on the keyboard. Re-grouping and refreshing kind of , sort of. Looking back on the summer of 2017, and the words “deluge”, “stormfront”, “soaker”, “flooding”, and anything else rain related immediately come to mind. It certainly has been a wet one across the north this spring and summer year. Most likely, we have set some precipitation records when it comes to rainfall because it has not let up since Easter Sunday. I know some or our single day rainfalls in mm have equalled what we normally get in a month. One forecaster in Ottawa wanted one more rain in late July because it would have put Ontario into record setting area. YUK!
So, with that said, the remainder of the summer looks pretty sunny and dry, with no significant rainfall forecasted. The time has come to hit the beach, and hit it hard. This upcoming weekend looks superb – maybe mid-20s and sunny all weekend. Pack up the old stationwagon, load the sun umbrella, pack the styrofoam cooler with bologna sandwiches and root beer, and head on up to Batchawana Bay- one of the best beaches on Ontario. You deserve a day or two of warm sand under your feet, and your body bathed in plenty of vitamin D that only the fiery ball in the sky can provide. When you need to cool off, a dip in fresh Lake Superior is just beyond the lawn chair. Ahh the last days of summertime never felt so good.
And if I may take the chance to sponsor this blog with a wee bit of advertising from the Voyageurs’ Lodge, ice cream, cold beer, hamburgers, fresh cut fries, and smoked fish for your afternoon dining enjoyment are just across the highway at our General Store and Cookhouse.
Time to “Hit the Beach”. See you there.
